Everything that people send to me I put through the full process, checking spelling, grammar, consistency of tense, all kinds of things, and making changes where a line doesn't seem to say what I think the author wants it to. We’re all really vulnerable to not putting in details the reader needs. We know what’s going on. Why don’t they?
I might cut out a phrase. Even a sentence or two. And sometimes I say, “Hey. I think Chapter Two (or this or that paragraph) is in the wrong place.” Or, “You’re not developing the tension enough here,” or, “Would your character really do that?” And then I say, “The decision is always up to you...” WHEN YOU'RE READY TO BEGIN THE PROCESS, CONNECT TO PAYPAL, CLICK THE SEND BUTTON AND USE MY E-MAIL ADDRESS TO SEND YOUR 50% DEPOSIT TO MY ACCOUNT... |
I want to thank all the authors who've kept me busy over the years, and the repeat customers especially. After a hiatus, I'm back in the saddle again, with the third volume of a sci-fi trilogy for an old customer. There are some testimonials behind the button above, if you'd like to see them. People seem to value honest criticism and helpful suggestions from someone who does everything he can not to take over their story.
For my editing work, I use Track Changes in Microsoft Word, and I prefer balloons off in the right margin, because we both get a clear view of my suggested changes, and the balloons show you what the line that you wrote was like beforehand. I will fix all the mistakes in grammar, tense, punctuation, redundant word usage and order of phrases that I see, giving full respect to any colloquial usages, or matters of your particular voice. I will also give you notes when I question whether something one of your characters does makes sense for them, or whether some descriptive term or phrase you’ve used is appropriate or (shudder) politically incorrect. I don’t like to interfere with the way an author constructs a story, but if I have a suggestion about something needing a twist, or even a chapter being in the wrong place, I’ll pass it on. What does it cost? The answer to that comes out of how much time it takes to do what you want me to do. Please click on the RATES icon above for further information. Thank you for your continuing support. I've expanded my services beyond editing into book and cover design, posters, and also videos and slideshows, but what I do for you is always YOUR story and I look forward to working with new clients for years to come.
